Artist Bio

With a life long love for all mediums of art, Leona Grimley immersed herself in every art form that she could, and it was then that she discovered a clear affinity that started her artistic journey in 2017, where she found her passion for sculpting with glass.

Her early education began at the Telford College of Art and Technology, as well as New College studying Art and Design.  Leona found great support and guidance from many of her tutors who supported her creative talent and she left with a distinction in fashion and textiles. However, through necessity, full time education then took a back seat for a while.

Many years of working in various fields of commerce and industry, combined with starting a family, and raising her two daughters by herself, helped to shape the person she is today

Leona had now found the experience of life that she needed, to re-discover her inner voice and returned once again to the arts where she could express herself.

As a mature student at University, which acted as a therapy to heal her soul and rediscover who she really is. She was now able to pour her feelings, thoughts and passion into her creations of art.

Working with the medium of glass, through kiln formed techniques such as Lost-wax casting as well as Sand-casting, to produce sculptural pieces from small sketches to large scale projects, She creates both pieces of art that are personal, as well as work that reflects the world around her.

Finding inspiration from the Human form, Nature, Mythology, Motherhood, and from her personal experience of being a Woman, she creates and captures moments that evoke the senses.

Leona graduated her Glass & Ceramics course with a First-Class Honours, from the University of Wolverhampton.

Her hopes for the future are to further explore the medium of glass.
